+ Nature | Morning Song

View from my bedroom window at 9:00am

Woke up this morning to the tune of birds singing their morning song.

Wonderful way of waking up.

The sun was about to break its rays above the Poi Cheng Primary School's Hall roof and into our bedroom. The clock on the bedside table displayed 7:33am. Still early.

The morning was just warming up. Full of potential.

It is a Monday, the 2nd day of Chinese New Year. The first of two public holidays to replace the actual holidays that befalls on Saturday and Sunday.

Everybody had a good celebration the last two days that most were not stirring this early morning.

The streets were deserted. No humming sound was heard from the school's air-conditioning, no music blasting from the neighbours' radios, no noise pollution.

Only just the tunes of many different types of birds were heard. Heaven! I was so delightedly I smiled before I got out of bed.

Wife was still asleep, so was my son, sprawlled in his bed. He is quite tall now, I noticed, as he has now fill the length of his bed.

I stood by the window listening to the birds songs. I stood there for the longest of time.

There was a bird singing in particular that I have never heard its song before, not even when I was young, living in a kampong or village when there was nature at its best.

I do not think it came from someone's caged bird as the sound moved around from tree to tree as if. Very enchanting song, distinctive amidst all those lovely songs they sing so well.

Maybe that particular bird has been singing every morning or maybe it was a passing bird singing, or maybe I was just lucky to get to hear its song this morning.

I was blessed to hear it. It triggered the same feeling I felt when I woke up in Cairns, Australia a few years back during our family vacation.

That was the exact same, blessed feeling I felt when the scores of birds sang their versions so loudly, so close to our room that it woke us up in delight. Just pure heaven!

Everybody is awake now. The sun is casting light into my bedroom floor.

Let us see what the day holds for me and my family today...

  • Hello All,
Thank you for visiting and leaving your messages.

Sister Celtic | It is always intriguing to observe our pets antics.

I would love to hear about Martha. How do you care for a big and wild creature like that? Very interesting to know.

We bought books on local and migratory bird here, but need to move quite far away from the neighbourhood to birdwatch the commonly unseen ones.

Hope your mural is coming along great! Tell me when its opening ceremony time.

Ry | It was a good day indeed. Sun was out. Got to spend some family time together during the day and watch a movie at the cinema n the evening.

I admire your vocation. I was a medic in the army. A compulsory 2-year national service, but I have forgotten most of it.

Hope you have many goods day ahead.

Dwaine | Me too. I will get to see the sun mostly only at lunch time. Going to work and coming back home are mostly dark. That is why I always long for the weekend. I need the sun and the beach to calm my nerves.

I love wide-open landscapes. The photo you took with the mountain backdrop is fantasticly beautiful!

That one photo got me all excited to see more sceneries from where you live, just like Sister Celtic's Lopez Island.

    Have a great day.

Andrew | Great! Morning Song? The sunshine?

I enjoy the Haiga(s) from you the most. You present a simple picture and provoke a million thoughts and possibilities with only a few words. Ingenuis. Sets you thinking.

Must visit you to find out. A creative masterpiece everyday!

  • Hi Imran,
The sound of birds singing catches my attention, if I let it. There is usually one different guy out doing his own tune.

Your house is very nice with its simple beautiful minimilism.

  • Hello Carol,

Thanks for visiting. I know where you are coming from.

Yes, we tend to take especially the daily, common things for granted until they become immune to our senses.

Have to keep reminding ourselves to appreciate the little things often. Then we can enjoy these little but satisfying gifts everyday!

Because of land scarcity, homes in Singapore are like pigeon holes - small, compact and stacked-up. We have to make it homely the best we can. And with the fast-paced life here, minimalism is very pratical for us to keep the house chores to... well, minimal.

    Have a great week ahead!

  • Hello Sister Celtic,

For the first time, I read the news about Superbowl. Unfortunately the Steelers won. How's George taking it?

I saw your mural and it was beautiful indeed. A successful project. You both should be very proud of your artistic talents. Now you guys get to enjoy spring time everyday.

I would definitely read your post on Martha and the animals there.

When I was in the US, I noticed lots of dead armadillos in Austin, TX and dead animals - dog or deer (not sure) on Route 70, etc in Dayton, OH, on the side of the highway. Poor unfortunate animals.

Good to know kind souls are there to nurse these victims back to health.

Keep posting Sis, you have one regular fan of such stories here.

    Have a good week ahead.
